What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • The position’s primary component involves assisting in overseeing the management of the International and North America Casualty reinsurance program in place, ensuring that complex reinsurance contracts are correctly interpreted to determine accurate accounting and that all entities covered are accounted for in relevant systems. To accomplish this the incumbent must have extensive knowledge of reinsurance agreements in place going back 20 years as well as exercise independent judgment and discretion concerning matters of material financial impact to AXA XL’s financial stability.
  • The position’s primary goal is to sustainably improve AXA XL’s net risk/return profile with an emphasis on enhancing shareholder value. This entails oversight of reinsurance contract setup in appropriate systems, Ceded Premium booking/billing/payment, Loss recovery calculation, and recovery collections as well as dispute resolutions.
  • The positions incumbent is expected to become a subject matter expert representative on cross-team process discussions and/or projects involving various internal and external stakeholders, including IT, Finance, Operations, Legal, and Actuarial.
  • Oversee and engage with the Ceded Re Buyers and the Business Units to prepare & evaluate ceded premium allocation to accurately impact business unit financial results
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight to staff, manage team in achieving high standards of productivity, efficiency, and alignment of organizational goals
  • Participates in design & testing of new system implementations & quality controls.
  • Stays abreast of financial reporting and regulatory developments which can impact the company and ensures compliance with all regulations.
  • Provides financial analysis and reporting to management on a quarterly, monthly, and annual basis. Communicates and resolves issues with the business units finance teams and reinsurance intermediaries impacting efficient execution of ceded reinsurance programs.
  • The position requires oversight of the preparation of quarterly Schedule F statement for the whole insurance segment and successful submission to CDCA (Ceded Data Collection Application). It involves Identifying, investigating and resolving the differences found in the reconciliation process.
  • Oversees and ensures that corporate accruals are adequately researched and accurately facilitated with clear and relevant information provided to finance and management.
  • Assist in reviewing FIC controls and implementing changes to ensure they are relevant and optimal.
  • Ensure that all FIC and Audit requirements are updated, fully documented, understood and adhered to in areas of responsibility to ensure there are no reportable events classified as a failed control.
  • Oversees that the timely and accurate responses are provided to audit requests either internal or external (specifically NY State Exam)
  • Assist in maintaining a technically proficient and integrated team India.
  • Performs advanced problem solving and complex analysis.
  • Organizes and manages projects to completion; leads implementation of process improvements
  • Ensure that all recoveries are reviewed on Notices of Loss and Status updates before Ceded Claim sends to reinsurer.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ experience in reinsurance administration.

Successful completion of industry professional designations – CPCU, AIAF or ARe preferable

Strong supervisory skills: Ability to inspire and develop reinsurance team to excel.

Expert knowledge of NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) requirements for Schedule F as well as New York State Department of Financial Services requirements for insurance company financial statement preparations as it relates to reinsurance transactions required

Solid knowledge of reinsurance contract terms and structures

Significant complex problem-solving experience

Decisive communications skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).

Ability to handle complex tasks, meet deadlines, and take initiative with minimal oversight.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills

Strong communication skills

Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
