Transdev North America (NA) is the largest private sector operator of transit in North America, the focus of this position is Autonomous Vehicle (AV) response and recovery operations. As the Assistant General Manager (AGM) you will direct Roadside Assistance operations, serving one of the largest AV companies in Silicon Valley. This leadership position is intended to fill a critical operational function, managing a team of managers, and hundreds of individual contributors. The AGM will be required to report to the following locations (Phoenix, AZ , Dallas, TX, San Francisco, CA, And Los Angeles, CA) and or other emerging markets that are considered critical hubs or depots.
Responsibilities:
  • The Roadside Response (RR) AGM manages global response and recovery operations in dynamic transit environments. The RR AGM directly oversees managers and employees that are customer facing and charged with mitigating high visibility situations and exercising extreme safety.
  • Assists General Manager in developing a culture where safety, inclusion and ongoing employee interaction are valued and evident in all activities.
  • Fosters an environment where employee suggestions are vetted and implemented whenever possible and in line with the company’s direction.
  • Strong ability to motivate a team by creating a collaborative environment focusing on efficiency and always putting safety first.
  • Provides general guidance to department managers.
  • Partner with client stakeholders to deliver new ideas and provide creative solutions to operational challenges and growth opportunities.
  • Partners with corporate support teams to ensure optimal delivery of support services to the assigned sector.
  • Provides strategic planning and direction to the operations.
  • Assists General Manager with managing and maintaining client contract compliance.
  • Assists with Developing and managing the operational budget.
  • Investigates, implements, and administers hiring decisions including terminations, promotions and new hires.
  • Assists with overall responsibility for scheduling, performance evaluation, and staffing responsibilities for the management team including but not limited to accountability of team metrics.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, and or related field preferred.
  • 5 or more years of relevant management and leadership experience required.
  • Experience in tech, start-up, and/or AV industry is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in transportation and/or logistics is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic federal and state employment laws.
  • Basic working knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to motor vehicle operations.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, employees, and support departments.
  • Remain flexible and agile for changing business needs and/or projects.
  • Experience managing a P/L, including forecasting & budgeting.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or GSuite programs and the ability to manage and manipulate data in spreadsheets.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details; analytical ability.
  • Ability to see around corners thinking about both the big picture and individual needs.
  • Proven track record of sound decision making, taking ownership, and delivering results.
  • Ability to resolve complex operational problems.
  • Ability to build solid relationships and influence others while working in a cross functional environment, including senior members of the business.
  • Must have a strong ability to adapt well to rapidly changing environments with ambiguous direction, and dynamic strategies.
  • Travel requirement outside of the immediate area (50-60%).
  • Experience in rapid response and recovery operations with numerous vehicle platforms.
  • Ability to launch operations in ambiguous environments with minimal information.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking driving strategies that are unique and creative to solve complex market challenges.
  • Strict schedule management maintaining compliance with numerous state and
  • Federal labor laws.
  • Experience in the AV sector and an understanding of legalities and regulations in domestic and International markets.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, use hands, fingers; handle, or feel; and talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Some work will be accomplished indoors however, infield operations and present leadership is expected. May be subjected to austere weather and operating conditions.
  • The employee may be subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen while performing in-field operations.
