The Literacy and Mathematics Team in the Division for Academic Excellence is seeking applicants for an Assistant Director position. This position has the option to work 100% remote with a requirement that the employee is expected to have access to secure high speed internet. The position is headquartered at 125 South Webster Street in Madison, WI and employees are required to report to the main office (125 S. Webster Street in Madison, WI) on their first day of employment. In addition, the employee may need to report to their headquarter location as operational needs require. Mileage reimbursement for traveling to the employee’s headquarters is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

Position Summary


The Assistant Director of the Literacy and Mathematics (L&M) Team is a critical component of the Division and works under the general direction of the Director of the L&M Team within the Division for Academic Excellence (DAE). The Director and Assistant Director work as a leadership/management team to provide leadership, facilitation, and supervision in support of programs and policies of the team, division, and department. This position has a shared, key leadership and administrative responsibility for all program areas within the team. This position will supervise educational consultants on the L&M Team. The Assistant Director will also serve as the staff liaison to a variety of external organizations.


Salary Information


The salary will be between $47.00 - $50.86 per hour ($97760 - $105788 per year) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 81, range 01. A two-year career executive probationary period will be required.

This position offers excellent benefits. The State of Wisconsin is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Qualifications

A minimally qualified applicant must have experience:

  • Implementing leadership and team-building techniques (i.e., celebrating success, clearly defining goals/responsibilities, leading by example, etc.)
  • Working collaboratively to develop processes/protocols
  • Providing professional development to educational staff (i.e., principals, teachers, etc.) on academic standards
  • Creating/maintaining a working relationship internally/externally in a professional capacity

Well qualified applicants will also have experience: supporting or facilitating collaboration across internal and external teams/groups to achieve a common goal related to academic and/or social-emotional learning; and/or, performing supervisory/management duties (e.g., evaluating performance, reviewing staff assignments, recruiting, identifying training needs, etc.); and/or, administering program planning or project management processes pertaining to state standards.
