ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCE – OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a self-starter with attention to detail to join our team. Reporting to the Area Director of Finance New York, you’ll further your hotel finance experience by taking ownership of the hotels Operating and Financial reporting, leading and supported by a team of 3, partnering with the Hotel Manager, VP Operations, Director of Sales and other DOFs across the US to strengthen reporting and build the brand as we investigate new hotels to join the group. The Assistant Director of Finance is also responsible for focusing on the profitability of the business, maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring acceptable levels of internal controls, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and safeguarding owners/investors assets.

ABOUT PARAMOUNT HOTEL NEW YORK

Paramount Hotel is a New York City landmark located just steps from Times Square. Constructed in the French Renaissance style by Thomas W. Lamb in 1927, the building reflects the theatrical character of its neighborhood. The bustle of the street disappears as you step inside - with its two-story lobby, reflective fireplace, dramatic lighting, and rich textures, it sets the stage for a hip, indulgent experience. Recently updated but retaining its historical charm, the Paramount Hotel is standing out – as the only hotel near Broadway NYC with genuine personality.

Kind of a “no brainer” to take this iconic hotel with us on our Generator journey. While making sure to keep its rich character - we are giving it the best parts of our Generator DNA in order to transform this into a social driven, loud and welcoming community hot spot (with some kick-ass parties & events, of course).

What’s the job?

NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE JOB

• Coordinate the completion of all forecasts and budgets as required, with the full and active participation department managers.
• Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels’ financial objectives.
• Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a timely basis.
• Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues, as required to management and ownership.
• Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, credit extension, inventories, assets, master keys, payroll, and records.
• Direct and/or prepare all financial reports in accordance with the company’s requirements meeting various due dates and deadlines.
• Responsible for evaluating the financial impact on business decisions.
• Ensures that all levels of management are promptly notified of any financial deviations from established policies and/or control weaknesses in the hotel.
• Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with the established guidelines. Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year.
• Assist the Development team to monitor and track the upcoming hotel renovation
• Ensure hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes.
• Continually focus on training and development programs for finance associates to cultivate the “brightest” and “best” talent within the industry.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

• 5 years of related progressive experience in hotel Accounting or related field; or a degree with an Accounting/Finance concentration and a minimum of 4 years of related progressive experience;
• Experience with Exact & Lucanet, a bonus but not necessary
