Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reconciles accounts to general ledger and prepares journal entries.
  • Monitors expenditures of specific funds and departments.
  • Monitors information from other departments for accurate presentation in financial statements.
  • Assists departments with proper accounting procedures and compliance with state statues, County policy and procedures.
  • Prepares reports, work papers and schedules for external entities including external auditors.
  • Monitors and reconciles selected accounts.
  • Analyzes information from departments to detect potential error and problems.
  • Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the department as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in business + One (1) full-time year accounting or auditing work experience
OR
TO APPLY , must have an Associate's degree or higher in business + Three (3) full-time years of accounting or auditing work experience
OR

TO APPLY , must have a High School diploma or GED + Five (5) full-time years of accounting or auditing work experience.

TO APPLY, must have a current and valid driver license. Note: A Texas driver license is required to hold the position.

CPA is preferred.

Position must have the ability to collect and analyze financial data and draw logical conclusions.

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment
at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, grasp/squeeze, hear, keyboard, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, lift overhead, lift to the side/twist, pull, push, reach, reach overhead, see color, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, use his/her hands, drive a vehicle, walk, work alone and with others, and work overtime.
