ABOUT POLAR FIELD SERVICES, INC.

We are a rare company. Since 1999, we've been taking our clients wherever they need to go, no matter how remote the location or challenging the conditions may be. We plan their expeditions, keep them safe in places that are anything but, and supply food, shelter, power, water, and waste removal. We then return the site to such a pristine condition no one would ever know we were there. We haven't been everywhere. Just a lot of places most people haven't.

Our team is made up of skilled people who are passionate about supporting cutting-edge science and making a difference in our world. As thanks for their courage and hard work, we offer excellent compensation and outstanding benefits. We take our jobs seriously, but our company culture is relaxed, dog-friendly, and casually dressed. We are looking to add more adventurous souls to our team!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ARCTIC CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN - SENIOR CARPENTER

In this seasonal skilled trade position, you keep our team safe and warm by constructing and maintaining buildings at our remote field station. You coordinate and supervise a team of skilled trade craftsmen, working alongside them to complete jobs on time.

Relying on your years of carpentry and building experience, you read blueprints, plan out projects, and complete material take-offs. Since you keep careful track of our inventory, you always know exactly which materials we have on hand. Throughout the projects, you create redlines and as-builts when needed. Working in a remote location presents unique challenges, but you've never been one to back down from a challenge. You're having the adventure of a lifetime!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ARCTIC CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN - SENIOR CARPENTER

We're looking for an adaptable person with great communication skills who has the following qualifications:

  • 6+ years of extensive carpentry experience, including design, rough framing, and finish carpentry
  • 2+ years as a carpentry foreman, lead, or supervisor
  • Experience working with and leading a diverse skilled trade team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety requirements
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Willingness to drive a snowmobile and other polar vehicles
  • Valid passport and driver's license

Experience working in remote, cold environments would be beneficial. Ironwork and structural steel building assembly experience would be an asset. Experience building commercial or industrial facilities is preferred but not required. Prior completion of accredited OSHA training courses and first aid training would be a plus!

YOUR SCHEDULE AS AN ARCTIC CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN - SENIOR CARPENTER
