Chicago Department of Aviation


Number of Positions: 1 (one)


DUTIES: Analyzes and comments on the work of an engineering, planning or architectural design consultant responsible for the preparation of design drawings and contract documents for Department of Aviation projects for building code and zoning code reviews. Reviews building complex construction and renovation plans, specifications and cost estimates prepared by contractors for compliance with building code requirements. Communicates expert technical knowledge and applied understanding of the Chicago Building Code, Chicago Zoning Ordinance, Illinois Accessibility Code, and all other State of Illinois Code to design and construction staff and consultants. Attends design, progress and pencil pay application and round table meetings. Reviews contractor invoices for accuracy and provides feedback and recommendations on reviewed proposals and invoices. Collaborates with tenants and consultants during the design development, schematic design and construction phases with regard to the building code and zoning code review process. Assists the Aviation Department Staff as a technical resource for building code and zoning code related evaluations and questions. Works closely with Aviation’s Design & Construction Department to review proposed projects, building plans and existing facilities for code related issues. Meets and confers with other city and governmental departments and agencies to review project proposals and provide technical assistance on municipal projects as required. May advise less experienced architects on the preparation and review of architectural plans and drawings. Provides technical assistance to architects on the preparation and review of architectural plans and drawings. Reviews, manages, and inputs schedule information into Critical Path Method industry standard software. Performs other related duties as required.


LOCATION: Chicago Department of Aviation, O’Hare International Airport,

HOURS: 8:00am - 4:00pm

DAYS: Monday - Friday

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus three years of professional architectural work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to PASS a skills assessment/written test IN ORDER to be interviewed. The interviewed Bidders who possess the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected by SENIORITY order and according to the CBA rules. The interviewed NON-Bidders who possess the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected, AND


Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

Previous experience in areas of Project Development

Possession of, or working towards achieving an Architectural License in the State of Illinois

LEED Green Associate

PMP (Project Management Professional) certified.

Eligible candidates must have at least six months of active duty documented. Failure to answer the question and attach the required documentation will result in you not being considered for the Veterans Preference.

Residency Requirement: All employees of the City of Chicago must be actual residents of the City as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.
