JOB LOCATION: Wellmark YMCA
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Most events are on weekends
PAY RATE: $11.75-$14.00/hour
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The essential function of the Aquatic Event Staff is to ensure aquatic events held at the Wellmark YMCA operate effectively and efficiently.

The main responsibility is to be present and represent the Y when the Wellmark YMCA is hosting or renting the aquatic center for an event. The main duty is operating the computer timing system console at the admin timing table. The secondary duty is to be a timing equipment technician to trouble shoot the system with the timing table staff; this may include but is not limited to: the meet director/referee/admin, touch pads, starter horns, backup buttons.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• To ensure swim meets held at the Wellmark YMCA operate effectively and efficiently.
• Assist in setting up of the timing system not limited to: touch pads, backup buttons, meet software, scoreboard, starter box
• Operate timing console during aquatic events
• Assist timing table with trouble shooting equipment malfunctions
• Assist with pool setup for the meet: bulkhead, lane lines, backstroke flags
• Assist in completion of aquatic event report which includes the following details: format of event, number of participants on deck, timeline of event, successes, challenges, issues with resolutions.
• Ability to work with diverse group of people.
• Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them to others.
• Respond to questions and concerns of program participants and families.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
• Attend trainings and/or courses as required by the YMCA
• Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.

• Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
• Completion of high school or equivalent
• USA Swimming and YCMA Admin Official preferred or attained in 6 months
• USA Swimming Officials -Stroke & Turn, Starter, Deck-Ref and YMCA Level 1 and Level 2 Official certifications recommended
• USA Swimming current background check
• USA Swimming Athlete Protection Training
• Knowledge of YMCA and USA Swimming meet formats and operating standards
• Working knowledge of Team/Meet Manager (Hy-Tek) and aquatic timing systems (Colorado Timing System preferred)
• Experience operating and running timing consoles for events in a fast paced environment preferred.
• Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED or equivalent - prior to starting if hired
• Intro to Y’s Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting if hired
• Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards

• Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity
• Ability to remain alert at all times
• Ability to adapt to changing working conditions
