Job description
The Martz Group – Gold Line is seeking enthusiastic, energetic, dedicated Diesel Mechanic Apprentice candidates to join our team in Tuxedo, Maryland. Martz Group - Gold Line is a nationally recognized family-owned Motor Coach company with facilities located from Pennsylvania to Florida. The successful candidate will have a proven background in diesel engine inspections and repairs, automotive & motor coach diagnostics, and vehicle maintenance.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examines vehicle and discusses with Director of Maintenance nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
- Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.
- Removes unit such as engine, transmission, or differential.
- Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
- Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
- Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
- Rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
- Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.
- Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.
- Routinely disconnect batteries inside coaches and hook them up to an in-shop testing device to determine their functionality.
- Apprentice mechanics are responsible for performing light custodial tasks to keep workshop areas clean and presentable.
