San Bernardino County
is recruiting for Applications Specialists who help end-users to be more effective using departmental applications and computing tools by having strong business applications skills, technical expertise, and general knowledge of the department's business areas and information technology practices and methods.

Incumbents may assist departmental Systems Analysts with the development and administration of business application requirements, security access authorizations, and other systems controls; gather and document application requirements and test data; and produce reports and queries.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.
Availability: Some positions may require availability for night and swing shifts, weekends, and on-call, including holidays as needed.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must qualify under ONE of the following options:

OPTION 1:
Two (2) years of experience supporting business applications (i.e., troubleshoot; assist and instruct end-users in effective use; resolve problems) and utilizing advanced features Microsoft Office Suite which includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience must include supporting Apple iOS and/or Windows 10.

OPTION 2:
Experience serving as a PSE, WEX, or Intern for a San Bernardino County department, performing related duties AND a conferred Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, data processing, computer systems analysis or closely related field.

Substitutions for Option 1: Candidates may substitute up to one year of experience with thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in computer science, information technology, data processing, computer systems analysis, or closely related field OR a completed Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Office Specialist credential or certificate, or Microsoft Solutions certificate.

Candidates are required to list coursework and/or attach copies of certificate(s) on their application. Applications

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Probation Department will possess:


  • Minimum SQL Query Writing Skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work closely with Business Partner(s) in support of application development, database upgrades, modifications and enhanced reporting.
  • Work with Business Partner when implementing new applications, changes to existing applications and training for those affected by changes.
  • Demonstrate a sound grasp of the Business System Life Cycle process.
  • Experience/Ability in writing technical references/manuals and/or any project specific documentation.
  • Knowledge of using SSRS a plus.

The ideal candidate for Real Estate Services Department will possess:
  • Minimum AutoCAD drafting skills to include basic polylines, text boxes, dimensioning.
  • Basic understanding of WordPress and maintenance of websites, creating pages, inserting pictures, blocks, updating organizational charts
  • Understand utilization of Archibus database to manage and maintain data and perform reporting in support of Real Estate Services to include countywide space occupancy for 12+ million square feet and 1400+ buildings, countywide expense and revenue leases, Facilities Operations that includes on demand work requests, parts and labor, etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to work closely with Business Partner in support of application development, database upgrades, modifications and enhanced reporting.
  • Work with Business Partner when implementing new modules, or changes to existing modules and training for those affected by changes.
