Summary:
Responsible for the DIRECT development and maintenance of Applications to manage data, documents, and reports in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
Application Development: Document Templates and Reporting
  • Provide maintenance and support for existing Excel/VBA applications that utilize Excel as a template to store and retrieve data utilizing an Oracle database to create reports that are then published externally (often to SharePoint sites).
  • Maintain databases from data exported nightly from SAP, SQL Server, and other sources.
  • Migrate multiple Oracle based applications to Web/SQL Server based applications and propose future migration direction.
  • Note that over 70 existing applications utilize nearly 400,000 lines of VBA code. The current direction requires support of the existing applications (including improvements and enhancements) while working to migrate from Oracle to SQL Server.
  • Design/create/modify applications as required to meet the needs of the Manufacturing Engineering community.
Emerging Technologies
  • Work with emerging technologies such as PowerBI and PowerApps to interface with SharePoint and other data sources and develop other ways to develop and integrate new tools in new and creative ways.
NFS
  • Manage Departmental Network File Shares and Archives
Authorizations
  • Authorize user access to specific Manufacturing Engineering SharePoint sites, SAP roles, and network folders.
SAP
  • Maintain SAP queries for nightly and ad-hoc reporting.
Training/Testing
  • Create training materials and schedule training sessions (either in groups or individually)
  • Communicate with personnel on new software releases or upgrades
  • Perform UAT (User Acceptance Testing) in conjunction with IS&S personnel
User Support
  • Provide general Tech Support to Users throughout Allison (for users of Mfg. Engr. Applications)
  • Provide a physical presence in the workplace
Required Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Experienced in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) programming.
  • Experienced in Oracle & SQL
  • Advanced experience in Excel
  • Excellent Communication skills (written and oral)
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing (materials and processes)
Preferred Experience:
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • SAP
  • wScript or Powershell
