Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the A/R Follow Up Specialist is to follow up with clients on aged and unresolved invoices. This position is also responsible for performing all general A/R functions including the processing and posting of A/R entries into our Accounting Quickbooks Software. The A/R Follow Up Specialist will also assist our Medical Insurance Specialist in following up with insurance carriers and patients on aged and unresolved claims and may be called upon to research insurance company issues, such as network problems, workers compensation claims and a variety of special projects. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the operational aspects of the entire revenue cycle as well as the appropriate measures to take in resolving issues with our customers/payers.

Education and Core Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business/accounting related field, or five (5) years directly related experience;
  • Medical billing experience is extremely helpful and looked upon favorably;
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are a must
  • Ability to work independently, identify patterns and make informed decisions;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Quickbooks Enterprise and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to make informed accounting decisions based upon generally accepted accounting principles and performs these functions in multiple and varied accounting processes
  • Ability to completely and concisely summarize important details in account notes;
  • Manage and compile all information pertaining to A/R
  • Follow-up on unresolved invoices, to identify why payment has not been received;
  • Take appropriate actions to resolve issues in a way that results in payment and/or complete closure of insurance balance
  • Follow up on patient balances as assigned;
  • Interact with outside agencies and serve as a business office contact for outside vendors
  • Maintain and produce invoicing and monthly statements for customers and associated laboratory partners
  • Prepare and enter voucher corrections, cash receipts, and other necessary entries into the financial accounting system;
  • Process credit applications and client credit card information;
  • Accurately maintain and file all client contracts;
  • Possess a desire to be part of a fast-paced, rapidly growing company;
  • Favorable Background Check and Passing Drug Test required for employment.
