Market Analyst – North America – Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle Production Forecasts

S&P Global Mobility turns invaluable insights captured from automotive data to help our clients understand today’s market, reach more customers, and shape the future of automotive mobility.

The Role:
S&P Global Mobility is looking for a full-time Research Analyst for its Automotive Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle team. The primary responsibilities include researching and analyzing North American heavy commercial vehicle production and representing this scope of knowledge to clients through written analytical reports; forecast datasets; in-person meetings; and special consulting projects.

Responsibilities:
Researching and analyzing commercial-vehicle production in North America.

Presenting the regional forecast to clients in custom reports and intelligence briefings.

Using specialized knowledge of the commercial-vehicle market in the region to enrich the S&P Global Automotive databases and cascade actionable information to other teams requiring commercial-vehicle analysis within S&P Global.

Understanding and applying S&P Global Automotive forecast methodologies; effectively utilizing S&P Global tools and data sources to form sound forecast conclusions; Supporting forecast assumptions with clients in a constructive manner.

Specific production forecast tasks will relate to commercial-vehicle output in the region and include working with our other truck analysts to determine overall levels of new-vehicle demand; understanding and predicting shifts in specific manufacturer build rates; and anticipating demand for specific vehicle nameplates.

Providing commentary with analysis and rationale supporting vehicle forecasting.

Networking with key contacts in the automotive industry to validate data.

Ensuring that all services for which responsibility is held are produced and maintained at the highest quality levels and consistently delivered on a timely basis

Providing analytical support to clients both face to face and virtually.

Supporting the sales and marketing efforts of the organization.

Develop relationships with supplier and OEM contacts as well as media to extend S&P Global brand and product awareness.

Represent S&P Global externally, at conferences and other industry events.

Required education, experience & skills:
A bachelors’ degree, preferably in statistics, business, marketing, or engineering

3-4 years’ experience in automotive research or forecasting or several years’ deep knowledge in the automotive industry with a solid understanding of North America’s commercial-vehicle market. This could be with manufacturers/OEMs, suppliers, consultancies, or similar companies.

Other skills:
Fluency in English required, strong verbal and written communication skills. Any further languages beneficial.

Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Attention to detail & initiative are a must.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and interpret information.

Well-developed relationship building skills.

Strong presentations skills and comfortable in client interactions.

Team player.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $58,300 to $80,000 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
