POSITION OVERVIEW

We’re looking for an Alumni Communications/Engagement & USAC Scholarships Coordinator to oversee alumni communication & connection, & to oversee USAC scholarships.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Alumni related

  • Connecting with alumni to manage inquiries, communications, & engagement
  • Finding & creating storytelling content around alumni & study abroad impact
  • Building an alumni insight community & leading focus groups
  • Recommending strategies that strengthen alumni participation & support
  • Collaborating with staff who work with UNR students/alumni, as well as other department staff as appropriate
  • Compiling helpful resources for recent alumni such as re-entry tips, CV, interview advice, how to articulate value of study abroad for career development
  • Overseeing limited alumni events
  • Gathering & managing data surrounding alumni interactions
  • Organizing social media efforts specific to alumni group

Scholarships related

  • Serving as main contact for internal & external stakeholders on topic of USAC scholarships
  • Managing the year-round USAC scholarships process (budgeting, awardee selection, etc.)
  • Recruiting, overseeing teams of volunteer scholarship essay readers across the organization (& external, as needed)
  • Ensuring scholarship application documents are accurate, posted, processed in timely manner, awardees selected, & funds distributed
  • Collaborating with USAC colleagues across departments including accounting (on budgets), marketing (on website updates), advising, administration, & others
  • Maintaining organized files of current donor information
  • Maintaining professional communication with current donors
  • Providing scholarship training & informational webinars for USAC Central Office &S. Partner Universities
  • Where relevant, remaining current with UNR Financial Aid office policies re: scholarship applications & disbursement
  • Where possible, seeking additional USAC scholarship opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Experience interacting with alumni/students in higher education
  • Strong organization & time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently & as part of a team
  • Track record of compelling writing & successful content creation
  • Data gathering & analysis experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or similar preferred
  • Experience with scholarship management, budgets, spreadsheets
  • Study abroad or cross-cultural experience a plus
  • Event planning experience preferred
  • Commitment to valuing diversity & contributing to an inclusive working & learning environment
  • Creative problem-solving skills, patience, ability to juggle tasks
  • Love students, alumni, & the excitement & fulfillment of international education

The position reports to the Director of Marketing, Communications, & Engagement.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • At least two years working with alumni or in higher education or in international education

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The duties of this job are performed in an office or home-office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, & at times stand, & walk. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands & arms. The employee must regularly lift &/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, & ability to adjust focus. Travel will be a rare occurrence in this position.


POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED WORKING HOURS

This is an exempt position & will be paid on a salary basis. The schedule is at least 40 hours per week. The normal working hours will be agreed upon with the manager & may fluctuate, or additional hours may be required, possibly including evenings & weekends. The preferred work location is Reno, Nevada, however remote candidates may be considered.
