Job Summary
Carr Astronautics Corporation is seeking Scientists with strong scientific programming skills for research projects exploring the potential for Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) to be applied to Earth Science applications.
Candidates require a degree in a scientific field, some experience working with environmental datasets, and fluency in Python. Skill with IDL, MATLAB, and Fortran would also be useful.
Primary Responsibilities
Work as part of a larger team to develop and test AI/ML applications.
Full lifecycle development for orbital systems and scientific data processing.
Collaboration with science teams to assess application performance.
Requirements
Degree in a relevant scientific discipline, with preference for Ph.D. and M.S. level candidates.
Must have strong software skills under Linux, with Python required, and Fortran, MATLAB, and IDL highly desirable. C/C++ skills may be desirable as well.
Experience with AI/ML desired or the demonstrated ability to learn AI/ML methods.
Sufficient familiarity with Earth science to facilitate programming work and collaborate with the science team.
Full lifecycle software engineering experience including source version control.
Cloud experience a plus.
Experience with common satellite environmental datasets a plus.
Good people skills and a cooperative approach to working with others.
U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident (green card holder) with ability to pass a background check for access to government facilities.
