Location: Fayetteville, TX | Reports to Plant Foreman | Classification: Full-Time / Hourly / Non-Exempt

Alleyton Resource is an integrated aggregate and ready-mix concrete company based in the Houston and Austin, Texas, area. Alleyton operates sand and gravel sites and ready-mix concrete locations in the West Houston metropolitan area and operates quarries in Austin.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The position of Plant Laborer will be tasked with performing multiple plant duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a safety-first attitude. This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, TCEQ etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow safety rules, regulations and procedures set forth by MSHA/OSHA and Alleyton policies.
  • Safely perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections, complete daily equipment reports/plant inspections and report unsafe equipment/conditions to supervisor or foreman.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely and productively operate equipment at all times as assigned.
  • Must be able or willing to learn to operate other mobile equipment, including haul truck, motor grader, water truck and loader.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on plant and equipment using water hoses and shovels.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with plant repairs when needed. Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Cross-train on other positions in the plant in order to serve as a relief to other operators.
  • Demonstrates a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level and works as a team player.
  • Assist with the upkeep and greasing all bearings in the plant.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Prior experience in the safe operation of heavy mobile equipment or in the aggregates industry is preferred. General maintenance abilities are required. Proficient knowledge of MSHA/OSHA safety requirements.

Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • This position will be considered for night shift roles if available. Evenings and night shifts may be expected.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Most time is spent outdoors in the processing plant. Assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions, heat, cold, wet or dry. They may have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel, exhaust, lubricants, solvents, etc. The work area may have noise levels up to 90 lbs. Work areas require personal protective equipment such as, a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high visibility vest or shirt, and hearing protection.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at times. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. May occasionally deal with heights. Ability to operate hand levers, foot pedals, and steering wheel. Must be able to enter and exit equipment by climbing the 6-step ladder up to 50 times daily. Ability to remain seated in equipment for up to 12 hours daily. Must have hand-eye coordination and vision to safely operate mobile equipment. Ability to read and interpret gauges and use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching are all required. Will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. as well as shovel up to 35 lbs. up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable. Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees, and managers. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics.
