Overview:

Bushwick Leaders High School is seeking an After-School Coordinator to support in the day to day management and operations of our After-School Program. The Coordinator will assist in the overall administration of BHLS After-school Program including but not limited to: implementation of enrichment activities, advertising the program, theme based projects, scheduling of activities, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents and school staff and organizing special events. The ideal candidate is an energetic self-starter who possesses experience in after school programming, data entry, event management and some office management experience.


Reports To: Community School Director
Location: 976 Seneca Ave, Queens NY 11385

Hours: 35 Hours/ Week; Non-exempt; Monday – Friday 10:00AM-6:00PM


Major Duties:
  • Take and organize student registration documents.
  • Record student data and daily attendance.
  • Follow up with all student absentees by making phone calls to parents/guardians.
  • Organize and file all documentation regarding programming.
  • Regularly communicate with parents of any news and important information.
  • Create monthly café Jam and community hour schedules
  • Create and collecting slips for after-school program
  • Recruitment for after school program
  • Document advisory pizza party attendance
  • Group counseling/mentoring
  • Individual counseling/ mentoring
  • Participating in the GSS youth summit yearly
  • Attend division after-school core team meetings
  • Create agendas and lead after school meetings
  • Assist with other DOE school functions
  • Plan field trips and group activities in collaboration with Community School director
  • Provide site-based support to teachers, tutors and activity specialists in implementing the program
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma and a minimum of one-year office experience.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required
  • Basic knowledge of youth development, after school programs, and recreation programming for high school students.
