SUMMARY The Advancement Coordinator is a key member of the Advancement staff providing integral organizational and software support. The position is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate donor and alumni records. Reporting to both the Executive Director of the HCC Foundation and the Director of Alumni Services, the Advancement Coordinator will work closely with the Foundation Board of Directors, Alumni Board of Directors, administration, staff, and faculty of Highland Community College. Strict confidentiality is highly important.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Responsible for maintaining data integrity of eTapestry/Blackbaud fundraising software.
2. Assist in building robust relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations.
3. Assist in preparing fundraising and alumni correspondence.
4. Attend quarterly Foundation and Alumni Board Meetings, take notes, and maintain records.
5. Assist in coordination/setup & delivery of special events. Several are held on weekends.
6. Provide a high level of attention to detail and organization.
7. Present a polished, professional, and customer service-oriented demeanor at all times.
8. Maintain record of projects and deadlines and communicate progress in real time.
9. Address a variety of audiences with a knowledgeable and friendly demeanor.
10. Approach challenges in creative ways and find thoughtful solutions.
11. Possess a genuine interest in finding ways to promote and improve events and fundraising initiatives.
12. Ability to work with teammates in a professional and solutions oriented manner and attitude.
13. Willingness to go above and beyond the requirements of the job to be innovative and support the organization.
14. Ability to utilize social media applications.
15. Maintain strict confidentiality.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's/Technical required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in a fundraising setting, mastery of Microsoft Office, and Google Office Suite preferred. Knowledge of eTapestry/Blackbaud a plus.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to compose and process routine correspondence and take and process minutes for Foundation Board of Directors and Alumni Board. Ability to effectively organize and present information.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate amounts such as fees, discounts, interest, percentages, and other costs associated with Foundation/Alumni activities.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be detail oriented and enjoy being accurate and working with a variety of publics to serve them in a positive, helpful manner. Must be able to create projects from abstract ideas.

  • Assist in safeguarding confidential information.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to operate without a day-to-day routine.
  • Must have good working knowledge of generally accepted office practices.
