Job Summary

Under the supervision of the lead instructor, the part-time aide performs a variety of tasks essential to the success of the West Georgia Technical College Adult Education Division.

Major Duties

• Support and maintain classroom policies and effective learning environment
• Communicate effectively with all members of the program
• Tutor individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as advised by the instructor
• Process and assist students registering for the program
• Assist in the administering and scoring a variety of tests according to student performance.
• Assist instructors with administrative tasks (schedule changes, student files, SLPs, etc.)
• Substitute/monitor classes for instructors on an as needed basis (not to exceed 3 consecutive days)
• Confer with instructors concerning programs and materials to meet student needs
• Complete documentation of student progress (SLP tasks, small groups and/or one-on-one review)
• Prepare materials, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations
• Monitor assigned classroom supplies, materials, and equipment
• Participate in meetings, professional development and training/programs as assigned
• Maintain confidentiality
• Assist with recruitment and retention activities
• Ensure that all activities conform to college and state guidelines
• Support the mission and vision of the college, program and TCSG
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a high school diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) credential. Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills; must possess good time management skills; must be detail orientated; must be organized and be able to work with minimal supervision; must have good telephone skills; must have basic computer skills; must be eligible and willing to become a Georgia notary public.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with adults in an educational or training setting. Experience working in a formal classroom in support of a teacher. Experience doing data entry or working with GALIS or within other databases.

Location of Instruction

West Georgia Technical College offers Adult Education classes at all five campuses (Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, Murphy and LaGrange) and two sites (Franklin and Greenville). Openings are currently available at all locations.

Hours of Instruction

Adult Education classes are offered in the morning, afternoon and evening hours, Monday through Thursday and in the mornings on Fridays. Part-time Instructional Aides have some flexibility in number of hours to be worked weekly with a maximum of 19 hours per week.

Rate of Pay

$13.00 per hour – No benefits.
