Responsibilities


This position will report to the Business Manager of the Student Union and will perform administrative, professional support services related to all Human Resources activities and processes for managers and directors within the FSU Student Union, Student Engagement, and FSU Flying High Circus.

  • Manages the HR transactions and processes for the various departments within the Student Union including recruiting, onboarding, hiring, I-9 compliance, new employee orientation, reappointments and funding changes in OMNI, position description updates, training, performance evaluation compliance, and attendance & leave activities.
  • Maintains departmental personnel files in compliance with federal, state, and university laws, policies, and guidelines.
  • Serves as the departmental HR representative coordinating with the university’s central HR office on behalf of the FSU Student Union, Student Engagement, and the FSU Flying High Circus.
  • Guides the exempt and non-exempt FACET data entry and reporting processes for the department and monitors steps for compliance.
  • Interprets, recommends, and implements policies and procedures for the Union, Student Engagement, and Circus directors, associate directors, assistant directors, program managers, and hiring supervisors to ensure adherence to federal, state, university, and college laws, rules, policies, business practices, and procedures.
  • Supervises the department’s biweekly payroll and timekeeping processes which include monitoring time entry and approvals, running actives reports, communicating deadlines to department personnel, reviewing cost center reports, submitting cases to correct any payroll errors, and sending payroll certifications to director for final approval to ensure accuracy and compliance with all university standards.

Qualifications


A Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note: a combination of post-high education and experience equal to six years.)

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications, including Microsoft Office and basic computer functions.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications


Previous work experience that primarily handled Human Resources functions such as time & leave approval, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new employees.

Notary Public certification.

Anticipated Salary Range


High 30s to high 40s, commensurate with experience.
