Overview


The Orange County Medical Examiner's Office is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity. We are seeking a motivated, high energy, self-starter to serve in the role of Administrative Assistant. Provides administrative support and assistance to all Medical Examiners.

Medical transcription/Medical terminology experience of over two years and tyyping skills over 60 WPM are highly desirable.


Representative Duties


  • Transcribes Medical Examiner examination reports on a daily basis using all available technology, and does so accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Reviews reports for completeness against voice files and case files, and corrects errors/omissions in transcription, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and system accuracy.
  • Consults with doctors regarding any potential omissions or inconsistencies found in transcription.
  • Consults medical references and materials to verify the information before the report is sent to physician for signature.
  • Keeps apprised of new medical terminology and diagnoses.
  • Completes data entry in case management system on work progress.
  • Maintains data used in software applications and ensures work is saved in proper file locations.
  • Performs quality assurance for case charts, documentation, etc.
  • Follows all department and county policies and procedures.
  • Participates in emergency activities/response.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of secretarial or administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.



Preferences


Medical transcription/Medical terminology experience over two years.

Typing skills over 60 WPM.

$18.39/hour, based on qualifications and Orange County Policy

Educational Requirements
