A Administrative Assistant – Library Volunteer Program job is available with the City of Fort Worth Library Department. The Fort Worth Public Library is seeking a team member with excellent communication and organizational skills to support the Library's volunteer program. If you enjoy a fast paced work environment, have excellent communication skills and love problem solving, you may be the ideal candidate. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation to visit multiple facilities each week.

The work schedule is Monday—Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Administrative Assistant – Library Volunteer Program job responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing volunteer applications
  • Setting up interviews with prospective volunteers
  • Scheduling volunteer orientation
  • Collecting and updating volunteer schedules
  • Training volunteers on method for tracking their hours
  • Completing a monthly report on volunteer hours and outcomes
  • Serving as the liaison between volunteers and their on-site supervisor
  • Planning volunteer recognition activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree
  • Four (4) years of responsible clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
  • Library or bookstore experience a plus.
  • Experience with volunteer service programs a plus.

Conditions of Employment

Candidates who do not meet the Education requirement, may be considered if they have more relevant work experience than the position requires. Those selected for employment will be required to pass Pre-Employment checks depending on the position requirements. Those could include, but are not limited to: criminal background check, drug screen, education verification, etc. Criminal convictions will be considered on a case by case basis.
