Compensation:

Starting at $13.85 Hourly (temp differential included), $28,808.00 Annually (temp differential included)

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
This position is one of 3 that are dedicated to the processing, sorting, and inspection of all outgoing and incoming mail to the correctional facility. The primary purpose of this position is to reduce contraband entering the facility. Picks up the mail tubs designated for the Hutchinson Correctional Facility from the Hutchinson Post Office daily. Sorts all incoming first-class mail and packages for delivery to Unit Teams, Departments and other facility offices. Distributes all staff and official mail. Assists in placing General Orders, Memorandums, etc. in staff mailboxes. Transports mail by vehicle to Central Unit once daily and to the South Unit once daily.


Minimum Qualifications
: Six months of experience in general office, clerical, or administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.


Selection Process:
Applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval. A second interview may be conducted. Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency; and possess a valid Driver’s License.


Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate:
Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance within 10 days of the job offer. The certificate can be obtained by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website. A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. If an individual who has been offered employment cannot provide proof of a tax clearance certificate, the individual will be required to enter into a payment plan with KDOR and remain current on such payment plan or make other arrangements with KDOR to achieve the tax clearance required under Executive Order 2004-03.
