ASAP Solutions, an ACS Company, is filling a remote Actuary contract position for 6+ months. Client prefers candidates from the insurance, reinsurance or consulting industries who are located near Chicago, New York City or Atlanta for meetings as necessary. Actuary
Reporting into the Corporate Reserving lead, this position will provide actuarial support for the Corporate Reserving team, coordinating the quarterly reserving process and liaising with various Product and Corporate functions. The Corporate Reserving team will support various reserving areas including our Product Line and Regulatory teams and will have exposure to all lines of business. This role will be a primary contributor to efforts focused on improving our existing reserving processes and platforms including tool enhancements, expansion, and redesign.

Responsibilities:
Reserving

• Assist in producing the quarterly reserving estimates.
• Assist with the peer review of the Product Line quarterly reserve analyses and validation of the selected actuarial estimates.
• Assist with the peer review and validation of key actuarial assumptions and methods.
• Coordinate reserve meetings for the quarterly reserving process.
• Review the existing suite of reserving tools and identify opportunities for enhancement including possibly shifting from the status quo to future state platforms.
• Partner with IT to design and implement enhancement plans and act as a first point of contact for review and testing of IT supported solutions.
• Support quarterly reporting partnering with reserving and finance colleagues as necessary.

Other

• Perform additional project work including deep dives of specific lines of business.
• Assist in the annual Planning exercise, liaising closely with Pricing and Risk Functions.
• Provide support for other Group Functions (Finance, Risk, Investments) as required.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• At least five years of industry experience with an insurance, reinsurance, or consulting background in reserving, pricing, or modeling roles.
• Nearly qualified or qualified as a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or equivalent.

Other Skills Preferred:

• Experience with management information systems is a plus (e.g., database and application development).
• Intermediate to advanced Excel, SQL Server, VBA capabilities; additional experience with ResQ, Tableau, and/or Oracle or similar applications is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work occasional extended hours and travel on business as required.
• Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $120.00 - $130.00 per hour

Experience:

• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society: 1 year (Preferred)
