TITLE OF POSITION: Activity Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Independent & Assisted Living

RESPONSIBLE TO: Resident Service Director

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

• 32 Hour Position
• Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday
• SATURDAY IS REQUIRED

Candidates for this position should have an energetic personality as well as a strong interest in or willingness to learn about arts and crafts, seated exercise, trivia, history, cultural programing, dance and music. You must be comfortable with speaking to a group and reading aloud. Activities are run on an hourly basis. Candidates must be creative and flexible but also able to adhere to a schedule of consecutive events.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to support in the creation and implementation of scheduled activities on an hourly basis within and outside the facility, to assist in providing a varied program that meets the cognitive, physical, emotional and social needs of the resident and contributes to their overall quality of life.

As an activity assistant, you will work closely with the residents leading hourly programs for individuals and groups, along with transporting and assisting residents on outings. The Activity Assistant supports and assists the Resident Service Director in all necessary programming.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

Must enjoy working with the elderly, relate well to seniors and be a team player. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, public speaking skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference with at least one-year prior experience working with elders or in a Memory Care setting. This position also requires a strong knowledge or willingness to learn Microsoft Word and Power Point. You should be comfortable using media streaming apps such as Netflix, Hulu etc.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability
