Mission/Job Scope:

Supervise and support the Accounts Payable (AP) department leading direct reports and AP team. Evaluates team member performance and provides leadership and coaching to foster exceptional engagement to achieve team and organizational goals. Oversees daily operations and supports AP Manager with projects, performance of team and systems, management reporting, period ending close procedures, and other duties as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on leadership for team, workflow, and projects within the AP department
  • Monitor and ensure data integrity and consistency of procedures; effectively communicate to team system and procedural changes
  • Evaluate processes for potential improvements, recommend changes to maximize efficiency, and support the development of required operational and technical changes
  • Lead invoice processing and vendor account statement reconciliations
  • Lead AP Application database activity for exceptions and unmatched invoice processing
  • Supervise the various AP inboxes and the distribution and effective resolution of inquiries
  • Assist the AP Manager with projects, system troubleshooting, reporting needs, and developing and streamlining policies and maintaining department procedures
  • Develops and maintains training documentation procedures and conducts training of new team members
  • Assist the AP Manager with payment runs leading that process independently as needed
  • Engage and assist with the preparation of AP General Ledger account(s) reconciliations and corresponding journal entries as required by management
  • Support and provide backup coverage to AP Manager as needed

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business a plus
  • 2-3 years’ supervisory experience in Accounts Payable and/or an Accounting and Finance business setting.
  • Experience leading teams within a corporate office environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent data processing skills, computer literacy, intermediate to advanced proficiency using Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • JDA/AS400, and/or larger ERP system experience
