PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring Salary for this position is: $$74,051-$92,564/Annually.
  • Performs a variety of accounting and administrative support work in the preparation, verification, monitoring and maintenance of accounting records and reports for the Controller’s Office of the Finance Department; Supervises the Accounting Services and Central Cashiering teams
  • Directs and reviews the work and performance of assigned staff
  • Distribute batches, wires and special requests
  • Create, verify and post journal entries
  • Coordinate and oversee preparation and submission of 1099’s
  • Interpret and manage W‐9 information provided by vendors, including ongoing maintenance of vendor database
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of accounts payable functions including check management system
  • Assist management in developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Plans, implements, and manages creation and implementation of new City‐wide financial systems including research, data analysis and preparation of detailed reports
  • Plans, manages, develops, tests, and implements new accounting software and system modifications
  • Participates in development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for department/division
  • Maintain a minimum of 20 annual hours of continuing education, budget permitting
  • Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
  • Associate degree in accounting
Experience:
  • At least 5 years progressively responsible experience in complex governmental or municipal finance and accounting environment including complex spreadsheet and database development and a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Information Reporting (1099) certification
  • Accounts Payable Manager certification
