POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager is an analytical minded position responsible for applying accounting principles to prepare accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external stakeholders. Lead the annual audit and tax preparation processes for Symbria owned and managed entities.

This is a Remote-based position with random travel to the Corporate Office in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Responsibilities:
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of all internal and external monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting for Symbria owned and managed entities.
  • Review and analyze monthly accounting work papers and financial statements.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and coordinate Management Discussion and Analysis reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with finance team to prepare reporting for the organization so that financial performance can be optimized.
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures and maintain solutions to business and financial challenges including revenue and expenditure trends.
  • Assist with analyzing monthly operating results against budget including variance explanations.
  • Lead the annual audit processes.
  • Coordinate tax reporting with external tax preparers including all federal, state, and local filings, estimated tax payments, reviewing of annual tax returns, and leading tax audits.
  • Manage treasury management including compliance reporting.
  • Train, mentor, and review the work of Senior Accountants including resolving accounting issues as they arise and providing onboarding orientation to new team members.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of accounting processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain accounting databases.
  • Participate in the analysis of acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, business restructurings, and other contemplated transactions.
  • Review unclaimed property filings.
  • Other accounting analysis, reports, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Other Qualifications Required

To perform this job successfully, the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily is necessary and the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and auditing practices.
  • Experience with analyzing financial data, preparing financial statements, and preparing ad hoc reports.
  • Requires strong financial acumen and problem solving, attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a management position.
  • Successful completion of CPA exams.
  • Experience in multi-entity organizations with financial statement consolidations.
  • Experience in cost accounting and tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of financial software applications, including NetSuite.
