Position Summary:

Manage Association payroll, Accounts Payable functions, General Accounting activities and Metro Office management.

Essential Functions:

  • Payroll Functions: Manage and process accurate semi-monthly payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes consistent with federal and state wage & hour laws for an average of 600+ employees. Ensure the processing of payroll-related items for new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate and timely, including entering changes from payroll change notice forms, direct deposit forms and garnishments. HRIS system maintenance processes as needed. Supporting and coaching the branch staff on payroll procedures and best practices. Maintains payroll information, files, and records for the purpose of providing and up-to-date audit trail. Cut manual checks as needed. Responds to inquiries to various agencies (wage levies, etc.). Seeks to learn and use all relevant functions of the HRIS system to increase efficiency. Dayforce HCM experience a plus.
  • A/P Accounting Activities: Serve as the Association Amazon contact, gathering approvals, GL account codes and entering into the accounting system. Process and reconcile petty cash and cash advance accounts. Maintain vehicle list and coordinate DMV registrations. Process Independent Contractor Agreement paperwork, as well as various other contracts and W-9s, and maintain the approved vendor list. Supports the A/P Clerk - Inputs, processes and researches the payables in the AP computer system and verifies the documentation provided and reconciles vendor statements and accounts. Maintain accounts payable information, files and records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date audit trail. Complete other accounting duties as assigned. DAXKO Accounting experience a plus.
  • Benefit Reconciliations: Reconcile the benefits deducted from Employees pay checks compared to the carrier invoices and prepare the monthly journal entry for proper amounts charged to each cost center.
  • Office Manager: Serve as general office manager for the Metropolitan office; ordering office supplies, machine repair coordination, coordinating office equipment leases for the Association. Assist Metropolitan staff with special projects.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with participants, staff and supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in accounting or other related field. Experience can substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years accounting experience preferred.
  • General understanding of accounting, payroll functions, office systems, and procedures. Understanding of general ledger fund accounting and internal controls or ability to learn required. Detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks; ability to prioritize work schedule to meet daily deadlines; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • 10 key by touch.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Criminal Clearance: Including Fingerprints and background clearance.
  • Negative TB Test.
  • Must attend a new employee orientation within the first 90 days of employment.

Working Conditions:

Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. kitchen and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
