POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Accountant at the Greater Green Bay YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and performs accounting functions such as journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs monthly bank reconciliations, reviews and prepares journal entries and maintains recurring journal entries.
• Posts daily activity from operational systems to the general ledger.
• Records and reconciles payroll transactions.
• Supports Accounts Payable and others as a back up to their daily functions.
• Serves as liaison for the day-to-day banking activities.
• Assists VP of Finance with month end and year-end closings, including preparing audit work papers.
• Performs and assists in a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects.
• Works with department personnel to understand accounting processes and procedures.
• Addresses challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
• Performs all internal and external interactions with a high level of customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 year degree in accounting with 5 years related experience OR 4 year degree in accounting with 1-2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of general ledger and accounting functions, including GAAP and internal controls.
• Comfortable with computerized accounting systems.
• Prior experience with non-profit accounting a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Must be highly organized and have the ability to work with confidential matters.
