Account Supervisor

Reports to Group Account Director


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Account Supervisor functions as the primary client contact on a day-to-day basis. As client-facing professionals, they are the frontlines of Blue Sky, working side-by-side with clients on the development and implementation of projects. An Account Supervisor understands the client’s business; develops and nurtures positive, sustainable relationships and ensures that the overall client experience is both productive and rewarding. An Account Supervisor functions as a valued professional to the client managing both client and Blue Sky expectations. An Account Supervisor provides consistent direction and motivation to direct reports in successfully managing all aspects of producing a tactic from concept development to product completion on assigned product(s).


WHO YOU ARE

You are prepared and proactive, thorough and accurate. You gain a thorough understanding of the client’s business and industry, becoming the “subject matter expert” on assigned clients’ culture, product/services, competition, target audiences and strategy. You interface with the various Blue Sky departments and provide each team with clearly defined briefs that contain concise information on the product, audience and strategy enabling them to develop concepts and ideas that will effectively promote the brand. You earn and keep each client’s respect and confidence and proactively communicate any potential issues that can result in a scope change, budget change or deadline change. You are unflappable and able to manage multiple priorities in an ever changing environment because of your exceptional time management and organizational abilities.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibit thorough knowledge of agency policies and procedures and be willing to enforce them.
  • Supervise all brand-specific communication and ongoing work of agency and client.
  • Build and support a strong and strategically-focused client/agency team.
  • Direct agency development of annual brand and promotional planning process.
  • Support Group Account Director in understanding and ensuring the profitability and efficiency of account group(s).
  • Meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure promotional needs and tactical programs are being implemented.
  • Manage day-to-day client requirements within confines of contract/scope of work.
  • Provide clear and complete direction on all projects, and direct all agency team meetings.
  • Monitor cost vs. estimate on all jobs.
  • Review all jobs for consistency with brand strategy and agreed upon client direction.
  • Present plans, ideas, and concepts to clients in a logical and persuasive manner.
  • Assist in assessment of on-going programs with client.
  • Inform agency and clients of any changes in agreed-upon direction, timelines, cost, etc.
  • Participate in and report outcomes of field research.
  • Assume responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness and cost effective management of all brand programs.
  • Review and sign-off promptly on all client billing.
  • Keep management informed of account status and client/agency concerns.
  • Participate in interview process in the hiring of direct reports.
  • Manage on-going training and development of direct reports. Identify and recommend staff attendance at appropriate professional meetings and seminars.
  • Conduct and/or attend performance reviews of direct reports to encourage, motivate and improve their performance, and to ensure consistency and uniformity in its application in accordance with agency standards.
  • Propose and supervise client-relationship building activities: social, educational, etc.
  • Identify and participate in the development of new project/business opportunities with existing or prospective clients.
  • Effectively manage the client/agency relationship so that we are directing them instead of allowing the client to direct us.
  • Effectively challenge the client for clear direction on objectives and strategies when appropriate.
  • Manage challenging situations both internally and with the clients and develop solutions/take steps towards proper resolution.


DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS degree required (4 year); MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of account management experience.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Healthcare experience within an agency or client side.
  • Must possess strong computer skills, with working knowledge of a widely utilized spreadsheet and word processing application.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide marketable solutions in conceiving and developing tactics.
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible account service expertise.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to manage business and build and nurture relationships that foster a partnership-like attitude between Blue Sky and the client.

  • Know how to present agency concepts to the clients and guide clients to well-considered responses and requests.
  • Thoroughly understand the challenges facing the brand so that a respected strategic partnership is developed with the clients.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in agency and client management with multiple direct reports and the ability to ensure quality agency service on one or more accounts.
  • Possess a strong comfort level in the presence of the client. Must be able to make presentations on a regular basis.
  • Holds oneself accountable.


ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Time Sheets – Completes daily timesheets, accounting for a minimum of eight hours per day, accurately reflecting all billable and non-billable time.
  • Expense Reports – Completes expense reports in a timely and complete manner (within 2 days of occurrence of expense).
  • OOP Costs - Promptly approves all outside vendor invoices and provides those invoices to Finance for processing.
  • Billing – Works with Group Account Director and Finance Manager to ensure that all jobs are billed promptly and include all billable time and OOP costs.
