SHINE Technologies is immediately seeking an operator to be trained as an NRC Licensed Operator and operate or oversee the operation of the SHINE medical isotope production facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Pre-Operations/Construction Phase

• Participate in assembly, testing and operation of prototypes and process systems.
• Develop and implement various types of testing and commissioning procedures for production facility equipment.
• Develop operating, maintenance, training, and emergency procedures and other documentation to support production facility operations.
• Provide reviews of engineering and equipment vendor documents for acceptance by operations.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to assist in the advancement of design, licensing, procurement, construction, and testing activities.
• Participate in a training program that, upon successful completion, will result in a nuclear facility senior operator or operator license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
• Although flexible work hours may be available, overtime or shift-work schedules will sometimes be necessary to complete required work assignment with little or no advance notice.
• Some travel (<10%) associated with equipment vendor or regulatory activities may be required.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Commissioning/Operations Phase

• Ensure the health and safety of the workers and public, while also maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
• Perform facility start-up and commissioning activities for the new facility.
• Remotely start, stop, control, and monitor processes and equipment, such as pumps, blowers, and electric generators.
• Perform equipment tests and record data in logs.
• Oversee or perform administrative tasks associated with facility activities.
• Although flexible work hours may be available, shift-work schedules may be required, and overtime will sometimes be necessary to complete required work assignment with little or no advance notice.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

• 
  Previous research, test, or commercial power Reactor Operator (RO) license, Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification; or Navy Nuclear experience as an Engineering Officer of the Watch, Power School Instructor, Electronics Technician (ET), or Engineering Lab Technician (ELT) is preferred.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in relevant engineering or related technical field; or Navy Nuclear experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Technical understanding of accelerator and/or nuclear facility principles and operation, preferred.
• Dependent on qualifications and experience, candidates may be selected for senior operator (supervisory) positions.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
