We are looking for an individual who can provide the highest level of Speech/Language therapy to all scholars who need these services. This teammate will create a rigorous and supportive environment as our scholars progress to their ultimate goal: their most rigorous post-secondary outcome. This is a full-time role, with salary dependent on experience.

This role will include three major responsibilities:
Provide speech and language services, including evaluation

  • Provide group and individual sessions as indicated by the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Write progress reports toward achieving goals and objectives on IEPs to be sent home with report cards every 9 weeks.
  • Write annual speech and language IEP goals to ensure students are on track to reaching their most rigorous post-secondary outcome.
  • Administer formal assessments to determine whether or not a scholar qualifies for speech therapy based on Louisiana Bulletin 1508 requirements.
  • Participate in annual IEP meetings, as needed.
  • Use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in individual and group sessions.

Maintain compliance

  • Keep certifications and licensure current.
  • Write daily progress notes as required by Medicaid regulations. Ensure treatment ties directly to IEP goals/objectives.
  • Willingness to be trained on and to use electronic encounter tracking system.
  • Remain knowledgeable of current trends, including federal and state regulations in the field of speech-language pathology and special education to ensure compliance.

Build capacity and support staff collaboration

  • Consult with School Leaders, Directors of Curriculum and Instruction and Directors of Intervention and Program Leads regarding opportunities to incorporate speech and language strategies in classroom settings.
  • Provide professional development to teachers across the network to incorporate speech and language strategies into their classes.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders and maintain the necessary technical certifications for the role: valid LA license, valid LA ancillary teaching certification.
  • Training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
  • Desire to work at a college-prep high school rebuilding urban education in the city of New Orleans.
  • Desire to grow as a professional and person.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Deep belief that all students, regardless of their backgrounds and educational pasts, have the potential to succeed in college and beyond, and that it is the responsibility of schools to help students realize that potential.
  • Training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
