This position acts as the primary specialist in assisting clients with the application process for Medicaid/SSI/Social Security Disability

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Screens referrals and financials for Medicaid/SSI/Social Security Disability eligibility. Will assist in completing applications, coordinating appointments and telephone interviews with appropriate agencies and arrange transportation as needed. Complete and process all required forms as requested by the Social Security Administration, and supporting agencies. Complete detailed specific questionnaires and Case Summaries. Accompany client and provide transportation to the Social Security Administration, the Dept. of Health and Human Services and attend SSA scheduled consultations with clients as needed.

This position will assist with all levels of the appeals process; to include representation at the hearing level and/or assist in obtaining representation. This position will participate in Random Moment Time Study and all requirements. Travel to Mental Health Centers as deemed necessary by the program and will attend Administrative Law Judge Hearings with clients as required; to include travel to but not limited to Dallas, Fort Worth, Abilene and Wichita Falls in Texas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Will attend Meetings and Trainings; to include some out of town and/or overnight travel. Will participate in Program Planning as required by program. Education, Training, and Experience

Graduation from standard high school or equivalent. Some college preferred and a minimum of (1) year working experience in human services field.

Must have valid drivers license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Position may require use of personal vehicle in performance of job-related duties and proof of PIP insurance. Must pass all Center mandate trainings and all trainings required for certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and proof correspondence, reports, computer printouts, etc.
• Excellent spelling and grammar. Ability to write memos, letters, complete reports, miscellaneous documents.
• Ability to write summaries and present at Administrative Law Judge hearings.
• Ability to relate to verbal instructions, communicate in a courteous and effective manner with co-workers, clients and families, agencies and the public.
• Skilled in the use of personal and network computers, copier, fax, printer database, spreadsheet and office management software (Microsoft Office), SmartCare and Ecet.
