The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. DUTIES:

Employees of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. This includes, but not limited to, acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers and public we serve at all times.


This is a professional position responsible for activities associated with enrollment of applicants, services agreements renewal and expansion of existing providers for the Developmental Disabilities Home and Community-Based Waiver programs. This professional position is responsible for independently performing a variety of activities related to quality assurance, improvement and enhancement of provider service delivery practices, customer service communicating, and collaborating with others while upholding HIPAA requirements. The incumbent's duties include, but not limited to, the following:


Medicaid Waiver Services Agreement Renewals: Reviews and processes completed Medicaid Waiver Service application renewal packets and all accompanying documentation and forms. Enters codes and data into ABC and iConnect. in accordance with agency procedures. Maintains and updates applicant’s files and tracking as needed. Corresponds with applicants and maintains a record of communication. Maintains updated and accurate application packets for distribution. Tracks and processes MWSA renewals within designated time frames to prevent expiration. Prepares and sends updated service listing letters and/or termination letters due to loss of contact and expired agreements to providers. Monitors, tracks, and documents provider business liability insurance compliance. Facilitates initial MWSAs as needed.


Expansion Requests: Processes requests for expansion from existing providers. Communicates and collaborates with APD staff from other regional offices to gather and share performance information and determine eligibility for provider expansions. Collaborates with the waiver designee to ensure Solo to Agency and Agency to Solo expansions are processed seamlessly. Acts as the liaison to communicate with the providers, regional staff, and state office staff concerning the status of Agency to Solo expansions. Writes summary of reasons an expansion is not recommended, as needed, and submits to State Office for their consideration. Communicates the expansion approval/denial to the requesting provider.


Medicaid Waiver Service Providers Termination PAARs: Process Provider Agency Action Requests (PAAR) forms for involuntary and voluntary for Medicaid Waiver Service providers within the specific time frames.


Waiver Support Coordinator SARFS: Process WSC new and separation SARFs. Ensures new and separation SARFs are completed timely and forward to the Region’s SARF coordinator. Works closely with the provider enrolment liaison to termination SARFs are process timely to ensure the VPN is disconnected.


Provider Enrollment Support: Coordinates with potential and current providers to ensure compliance with Medicaid Waiver application requirements. Meet with providers and potential providers as needed to facilitate compliance during the MWSA initial and renewal process.


Transportation requests: Works with providers and other APD staff on processing transportation rates requests. Prepares transportation agreements/amendments as needed. Maintains accurate and updated transportation rate tracking system. Acts as the liaison to the state office for all transportation rate requests.


Performs other duties as necessary to support the Region/Field office functions.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to maintain, monitor, and utilize tracking systems.
  • Ability to use the Medicaid Services iBudget handbook.

DIRECT DEPOSIT PROGRAM - As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in State government is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.


BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
