MARRIOTT BRANDED HOTEL

To maximize the hotel’s operating goals by maximizing employee productivity, retention, well-being, and achieving customer service objectives by implementing training programs and policies in accordance with federal and state law, hotel policies, and brand standards for a Marriott branded hotel.

Essential Functions

  • Assists and supports management and the leadership team with handling and resolving Human Resources issues involving company policies, procedures, and state/federal law
  • Processes all new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations and other personnel paperwork to ensure accurate data and confidentiality
  • Creates, maintains, and revises job descriptions, company policies, procedures, and other internal forms
  • Monitoring meal break and rest period violations, handling deductions for Child Support and Franchise Tax Board, and processing PTO requests
  • Determines and communicates standards of performance to employees; evaluates employee performance on a regular basis and recommends salary increases when appropriate
  • Facilitates instructor led brand training classes and organizes/tracks online training courses Assists department managers in identifying training needs
  • Spearheads safety initiatives such as Safety BINGO and quarterly safety committee meetings Provides support in the execution of corporate programs/communications such as recognition, development, and company celebrations
  • Ensures measures are taken to prevent and investigate accidents through OSHA reporting and handling of workers compensation matters together with the insurance carrier
  • Assists hiring managers with recruitment and selection efforts including posting positions, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and interviewing
  • Coordinates applicant reference checks, background checks and social security number verifications
  • Represents the Company to outside agencies including appearances at unemployment hearings
  • Arranges all medical and dental benefits enrollments, terminations, COBRA and payments
  • Maintains documentation for leaves of absences in compliance with FMLA/CFRA/PDL laws
  • Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rates
  • Provides recommendations and assists in investigations related to discipline and termination decisions
  • Monitors compliance with applicable employment laws, including required posters and pamphlets and hiring/recruitment processes
  • Organizes, attends and participates in daily and weekly staff meetings, community activities, and employee functions/events
  • Works with fellow managers and the general manager to enforce the hotel and Starwood brand policies and procedures
  • Performs duties of MOD as scheduled Remains current on Sheraton Garden Grove-Anaheim South Hotel and Marriott brand standards.
  • Performs other job related duties as requested

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 3 year previous hotel human resources experience
  • Marriott branded expereince preferred
  • Strong leadership and written/verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of business and management principles
  • Proficient knowledge of computer applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Previous experience with ADP programs a plus
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment, such as phones faxes, copy machines, scanners, etc.
  • Languages: Written and verbal understanding of English, fluent in Spanish a plus

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
