Overview:
We are looking for a Writer & Editor interested in developing compelling material to help our clients tell impactful and cohesive stories. The candidate will work directly on an exciting opportunity with a Department of Defense (DoD) agency in Indian Head, MD. As a member of the creative team, this person will work in a highly visible, fast-paced, time-sensitive environment to engage with a wide variety of DoD issues and create compelling messages and stories in the form of social media, press releases, articles, feature stories, and news releases. The successful candidate is creative, fast on their feet, and self-driven. Candidates should have previous experience working with the federal government and must hold an active secret clearance. This role is in Indian Head, MD.

What You’ll Do:
- Research, conduct interviews, write, edit, and obtain release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements, including electronic, web based, and hard copy material
- Engage with a wide variety of subject matter experts, scientists, engineers, etc. to distill and translate highly technical information and ideas into compelling and credible content
- Provide communications engagement support for events to include the development of messages to align with client initiatives
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of relevant experience is required OR Associate degree and five (5) years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance
- Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite, standard office equipment and excellent communication skills
- Must have writing skills to assist in the planning, writing, and editing of feature news and technical articles, internal communications, reports, and presentations for release to interested internal or external audiences
- Background in and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Must have demonstrated professional experience writing and copy-editing articles, press releases or other written content describing complex scientific or technical topics using lay language for a general audience using the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook
- Should have experience participating with a team to produce a written product
- Energetic, passionate, and intellectually curious
This position will require U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance.
