Ripple Effect is looking for a Senior Writer/ Editor to work with the Communications and Outreach Team, supporting a variety of projects across the organization. This position will have a heavy focus on content creating and writing as well as proposal editing, copyediting, and formatting. Topic areas may include editing corporate and client blogs, articles, press releases, proposals, and scientific research topics. The applicant must also be willing to learn new topic areas to be able to edit content as needs evolve.

Responsibilities

• Edit corporate and client blogs, articles, press releases, speeches, and proposals
• Edit and finalize award submissions, web and social content, and ad copy for corporate and client channels
• Edit materials with technical accuracy, grammar, punctuation, internal consistency, and other metrics as defined on a project basis
• Format documents in MS Word styles
• Simplify complex materials for effective presentation to a target audience
• Utilize best practices for editing such as: maintaining continuity of style, voices, etc.
• Perform other duties as associated with the core functions of the role

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in professional writing, journalism, communications, or related field
• 4 years of experience in creative writing and content development

Basic Requirements

• Ability to edit content in plain language
• Ability to work with virtual teams (use of intranet and instant messenger to communicate)
• Ability to perform substantive editing of complex technical documents and plain language content
• Experience with proposal development
• Ability to edit materials as directed to meet client needs
• Excellent grammatical/punctuation skills
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word
• Ability to work productively and collaboratively in SharePoint to accomplish tasks
• Ability to perform on federal contracts which includes successful completion of SF85, SF85P, SF86, or similar form(s) to pass a background investigation [Reference].

• Knowledge of 508 compliance
• HHS experience especially NIH and CMS
• Experience with government consulting
• Interest in working in various software programs
• Proficiency in editing scientific reports appropriate for both print and web publication
• Strong working knowledge of references such as the GPO, AMA, APA, and Chicago style manuals
