Dr. Arenia C. Mallory Community Health Center, Inc. (Mallory CHC) is actively recruiting for a Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Clerk. The WIC Clerk collaborates as part of the WIC team in providing exceptional customer service to all WIC applicants and participants. Duties include collecting data for the purpose of assessing eligibility for WIC certification (including demographic, required proofs, and anthropometrics), contacting clients regarding upcoming and missed appointments, and providing other services as needed to assist in increasing and/or maintaining WIC caseloads. Also responsible for maintaining documentation of follow up/client contacts, documenting on-line and kiosk second education contacts, and issuing benefits when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Post high school work experience recommended.
  • Experience working in a nutrition or health related field.
  • Basic knowledge in computer data entry and/or word processing
  • Experience working in a professional office environment with the ability to communicate one-to-one, on telephone, and in group setting.
  • WIC experience (preferred)
  • Current physical examination, drug screen, and TB screen documentation upon hire
  • Adequate means of transportation
  • Desire to work with low-income children and their families

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Take phone calls and provide information regarding WIC services to program applicant and participants. Schedule/reschedule appointments for WIC services, monitor no show rate by clinic, contact participants regarding upcoming and missed appointments, and maintain documentation of all follow up calls/contacts. Complete appointment scheduling to ensure local agency is meeting WIC federal processing standards, ensure staff are maintaining productivity standards and program is meeting needs of consumers, as well as the organization.
  • Interview program applicants/participants and collect demographic, anthropometric, and other required data for the purpose of WIC eligibility determination (certification). Document required data in the WIC MIS system (SPIRIT) and assess need for other clinic services. Follow program policies and procedures regarding completion of data and routing client through clinic for services. Document on-line and kiosk education in WIC/SPIRIT participant folder and print benefits according to policy.
  • Work as WIC team member communicating with WIC certifier throughout the day to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services to WIC applicants/participants. WIC certifier and clerk/aide work as team to keep clinic running smoothly and efficiently. Keep applicants/participants updated when circumstances occur that impeded efficient delivery of services.
  • Perform general administrative functions such as maintaining reports, maintaining supplies, and ordering pamphlets and/or forms.
  • Attend all WIC trainings to stay abreast of program changes and policy updates. Complete annual required on-line training and training modules.
  • Fulfill role as mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect Policy.
  • Participate in staff meetings, conferences, training sessions and workshops as assigned.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with employment policies, performance standards, work plan and objectives of Agency.
  • Utilize EHR for documentation of client cases.
  • Perform other necessary duties as required by the Community Health Center to meet the goals of providing primary health care.
