JOB SUMMARY:

Program Coordinator

The David Bradley Wellness Center (DBWC) is a holistic, multi-generational approach to meet the needs of youth and their families. DBWC offers after-school programming for K-12 youth to teach them life skills, like relationship-building, perseverance, and responsible decision-making, through recreational activities that include martial arts, music, dance, and robotics, among others. With specialized Student and Family Support Specialists, DBWC goes beyond large-group programming to provide individual skills-building and strategic life goal planning for students and their guardians. DBWC walks alongside each family through the steps of stabilization, support, and scaffolding to support a healthy home and connection to their school and community. DBWC is designed to effectively empower one life at a time to REACH, TRANSFORM, and ELEVATE their community through love and building character, and serves as a training site for all other strategies of Higher Ground a Resource Center.

The Program Coordinator’s primary job is to manage the daily programming aspects of the David Bradley Wellness Center. This individual will be responsible for planning and directing activities, programs, and events and manage the day-to-day operation. They are in charge of making sure that program design is implemented to highest quality expectations according to the mission of Higher Ground a Resource Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organize and supervise day-to-day activities at the DBWC.
• Supervise program staff and provide coaching to staff and volunteers.
• Recruitment, Training, and Supervision of Life Changers (volunteers).
• Support the recruitment and training of program staff.
• Coordinate and supervise all recreational activities including but is not limited to daily recreational programming, tournaments, special trips, out-of-town games, and performances.
• Execute different programming design, practice, or methodologies as approved by the Chief of Staff.
• Coordinate with staff for inventory restocking and supply orders.
• Travel premises daily and complete checklist to ensure preparation for student arrival.
• Ensure proper staff ratio is maintained and staff are on post for snack and student sign-in daily.
• Coordinate Student Programming and Transportation.
• Coordinate with schools and academic related people to create opportunities to maximize students' academic performance.
• Run a Community Schools model on-site, engaging the DBWC stakeholders in a shared leadership model of community development. Organize and facilitate quarterly or monthly stakeholder meetings to align efforts.
• Collaborate with the Training & Quality Teams to provide hands-on training opportunities for new HigherGround staff from other strategies.
• Maintain Program Efficiency and Quality
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience. Continuing education would also be accepted in place of actual degree. Youth Development or Program Development background is preferred.
• Experience working with K-12 youth (and their families).
• Must show strong leadership and management potential or experience and good relationship with the students, families, and community that Higher Ground serves.
• Knowledge of minority experience in Tucson and South Tucson.
• Competent with digital literacy skills.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish, verbal and written) is highly preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• High energy environment located both indoor and outdoor.
• Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Salary: $19 - $21/hr
