Coperion K-Tron is looking for a Welder and the position will be located in Salina, KS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

To perform all position welding on products in accordance with code requirements, alignment and dimensional specifications.

Work from drawings, specifications and/or material specification codes. Select welding procedures and technique best suited to the type of work and materials involved to obtain proper penetrations, fusion and strength, offset distortion and maintain alignment, using MIG, TIG, and plasma cutting equipment. Material types will include various grades and surface finishes of stainless steel.

  • Manufacture parts to meet production and quality requirements
  • Fit up structures and weldments involving a considerable number of parts and a high degree of detail, using the clamp and tack weld method and turning rigs.
  • Ensure that all equipment and tools are maintained in working order
  • Using measuring instruments and devises to set-up, weld and check work
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area
  • Responsible for maintaining high quality standards
  • Must be able to saw, grind and other support duties as needed

Qualifications - External

Skills/Experience:

  • Specific knowledge of welding technology, equipment types, purposes and applications; material characteristics and their basic metallurgical aspects; and measuring that is normally acquired in 3 – 4 years of experience
  • Must be able to read blueprints/drawings
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must read and write in English
  • Must have the mechanical ability to use welding equipment and measuring instruments
  • MIG and TIG welding of stainless steel, plasma cutting equipment, turning rigs, rule scale, protractor, templates, straight edge, plumb-line, fixed gauges, grinder, and hand and power tools
  • Basic mathematical abilities
  • Advanced ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Clean and finish welds and seams to the Ra finish specified on the drawings
  • Must be able to take direction and work as part of a team
  • Ability to perform physical manufacturing work; good mechanical aptitude

Education:

  • Knowledge at the level acquired in four years of high school
  • Vocation/Technology education or 2 years’ experience
