Job Title: Welder

Department: Production

FLSA Status: Hourly

Reports To: Team Leader

Position Summary

Produces a high quality product by aligning, fitting, and welding fabricated plates and structural shapes into fabricated products by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Reads engineering prints and work orders to determine assembly and material requirements

· Perform layout, cutting, tacking or welding to specified dimensions as indicated by scale, rule or template

· Measure work piece to determine dimensional accuracy

· Clean up as required to remove scale, slag and weld spatter

· Has the ability to operate any and all machines and tools, from set up to operation on assigned production line

· Safely operated forklifts and overhead cranes.

· Inspect quality of work to standard and repair any imperfections

· Maintain a safe work environment through following safety procedures and housekeeping

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· High School diploma or general education (GED)

· Must be able to work in a team environment as well as individually.

· Basic knowledge of good inspection techniques.

· Must have mechanical ability, an eye for abnormalities, and aptitude for detail.

· Ability to learn new welding processes

· Ability to judge areas of possible rework and plan and execute repair / rework accordingly

LANGUAGE SKILLS

· Ability to read and interpret CST and customer prints and documents.

· Ability to write routine reports in a professional manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

· Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, fractional and decimal numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

· Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

· Handle problems involving variables in a standardized situation.

· Ability to make decisions and know when/where to make concessions.

COMPUTER SKILLS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Walk, must be able to move about inside the manufacturing and office and occasionally on a construction site or outside of the manufacturing facility.

· Use hands/fingers to feel, handle and operate machinery, tools and dimensional equipment. Reach with hands and arms.

· Sit and stand -standing on concrete floor and uneven terrain will be required frequently.

· Climb and balance, must climb stairs and work from ladders several feet above ground level. Some operations require climbing through a 20” manhole.

· Stoop, kneel and crouch or crawl.

· Talk/hear, must be able to communicate with operators and management frequently and exchange accurate information.

· Lift and carry weights25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently and occasionally with aid of others or lifting devices 100 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· Noisy – ear protection required

· Non-Air-Conditioned work area

· Busy forklift traffic zones

· Fast paced

· Frequent exposure to vibration, fumes or airborne particles and/or chemicals

· Some exposure to weather conditions

· Works near moving mechanical parts

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.78 - $23.90 per hour
