Job Summary:

The Weight Room Attendant falls under the fitness program within the Department of Campus Recreation. The overall focus of this position is to supervise the activities in the weight room & cardio bridge as well as conduct programs that occur within this area, which includes spotting patrons, providing exercise guidance, and enforcing policies.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Supervises the activities in the weight room & cardio bridge as well as conduct programs that occur within this area.
2. Provides spotting to patrons, provides exercise guidance, and enforces policies.
3. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Recent graduate of TCU.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

  • None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic customer service techniques.
  • Knowledge of Campus Recreation programs and activities.
  • Knowledge of health/fitness related issues.
  • Skill in effective written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 45 lbs.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 9 hours per week and maximum of 20 hours per week.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 45 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Work is indoors and moderately active and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • This role is an on campus, in-person position.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
