Do you love social media trends, capturing incredible photography, storytelling, and engaging with digital media as it relates to travel and tourism? The Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism has an exciting opening for a Web Specialist.


The Web Specialist will work to grow the digital presence of our website (Visit Prince William County, Virginia) by focusing on engaging new, and retaining current, visitors. The position supports the organization’s goals by developing and managing its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, developing and managing its website structure, including landing pages and microsites, and creating and managing social media content and blogs. The candidate will work closely with the Communications Manager to increase the effectiveness of the organization’s website user experience, manage online advertising, and email marketing implementation.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Web Specialist will own the digital aspect of Prince William County tourism marketing to include managing the website Visit Prince William County, Virginia. As well as create and implement strategic sales, public relations, and marketing initiatives with the goal of increasing visitor spending, visitation, and hotel occupancy in Prince William County. The ideal candidate will combine creativity in copywriting and graphic design with the technical knowledge of digital strategy.

  • Perform data entry on website content page to maintain search engine optimization;
  • Research, develop, and implement a best-in-class social digital content plan;
  • Create and maintain high-quality standards on imagery and video;
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sales departments to optimize website content, existing page structures, navigation, and user experience;
  • Act as the organization’s primary internal expert on the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system;
  • Manage email marketing lists, distribution, and measurement of efforts;
  • Maintain clear communication with all partnering departments;
  • Develop and produce regular reports on destination digital offerings;
  • Maintain performance metrics relative to goals;
  • Analyze website and social media metrics to forecast future digital marketing needs;
  • Recommend digital media strategy to deliver departmental goals and optimize cross-platform efficiencies.

PREFERENCES

  • Significant experience in engaging digital audiences and managing multiple social media platforms
  • Outstanding and error-free creative writing abilities
  • Experience with various social media networks and content management
  • Experience with web site back-end management and maintenance
  • Superb communication and collaboration skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or G.E.D and 4 years of related experience.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
8:30 am-4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. This position is a telework eligible position that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change. Occasional travel may be required based on business needs.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE
$58,634.00-$72,000.00
