Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).


This temporary position will be assigned to the State Board of Elections. This position is located at 430 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.

The Web Content Coordinator performs a range of public information and public relations-related work for the State Board of Elections in Raleigh. The coordinator's primary responsibility will be maintaining the State Board of Elections website, NCSBE.gov, and ensuring that it is user-friendly and accessible. The candidate selected for this role will work with the Communications Division to provide timely information about elections to the general public. The Web Content Coordinator works under the general supervision of the public information officer, who leads the Communications Division.

Description of Work:
  • Creates and edits content for the North Carolina State Board of Elections website, NCSBE.gov.
  • Routinely edits and posts content provided by members of State Board staff to the website.
  • Works with State Board staff to ensure changes in elections law, schedules, and policies are accurately reflected on the State Board website.
  • Edits and writes according to AP Style and for tone, clarity, conciseness, and comprehension. This position often involves working with State Board staff to take technical information about election laws and processes and converts them into easy-to-understand content targeted at voters and prospective voters.
  • Ensures the State Board website is visually appealing and user-friendly for voters, candidates, and the general public.
  • Maintains a Web calendar of important election dates and deadlines.
  • Assists with outreach campaigns and other initiatives of the Communications team and agency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Working knowledge of basic web programming and scripting languages.
  • Good working knowledge of the main web design applications and social media platforms.
  • Experience in web content management and web user interface/creative design.
  • An understanding of legislation and guidelines for website accessibility.
  • Evidence of good creative and technical skills through a portfolio of past work samples.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a logical approach to work.
  • Willingness to keep up to date with the fast-paced changes in technology and software

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor s degree in Web Development/Design, Digital Design,Computer Programming, or related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution;orAssociate degree in Web Development/Design, Digital Design, Computer Programming and one year of experience related to the design and development of websites; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the field of technology related to the position's role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
