Water-Wastewater Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Maurer-Stutz, Inc. is seeking an entry-level engineer to work primarily in our Water-Wastewater Department and provide civil
engineering assistance to other departments as determined by project workloads. As an entry-level engineer, candidates will participate
in the planning, design, and construction observation of urban and rural water distribution systems, wastewater pump stations, water
and wastewater treatment facilities, EPA Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance (CMOM) studies and other significant
water-wastewater and infrastructure projects.
EXAMPLES OF RECENT WATER-WATERWATER DESIGN PROJECTS:
Water Main planning, design and construction observations for local public and private water utilities
Major water treatment plant improvements
Major wastewater treatment plant upgrades
Wastewater planning studies for unsewered communities
Design of a major wetland pump station and force main along the Illinois River
Construction observation for the painting of several unique local water towers
Sewage pumping stations with gravity sewers and force mains
Septic and combined sewer system designs
WATER-WASTEWATER ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist water and wastewater staff in planning and design projects including water mains, sewer systems, pump stations, force
mains, and treatment plants
Perform hydraulic analyses for open channel and closed conduit systems
Perform storm water evaluations
Analyze and design drainage system pumping stations
Design storm water detention facilities
Assist with design of combined sewer overflow projects
Prepare site designs
Prepare construction drawings and specifications
Prepare permits for construction and environmental signoff
Assist with construction administration and observation services
BASE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with appropriate water-wastewater engineering course work
Registered Engineer Intern (Or Intent to take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam)
Willingness and intent to become licensed as a Professional Engineer
Familiarity with CAD Software (including AutoDesk AutoCAD and/or Civil3D, HydroCAD, etc.)
Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
Good interpersonal skills
