Superior Fresh is an industry-leading aquaponics facility specializing in organic leafy greens and Atlantic salmon. Our Wisconsin facility is situated on a private 800-acre Native Restoration Preserve nestled in the picturesque Coulee Region. Our state-of-the-art, land-based recirculation aquaculture system is the first in the United States to raise Atlantic salmon. In conjunction with salmon, Superior Fresh grows the highest quality organic produce in an ultramodern 13-acre hydroponics greenhouse. The Water Quality Lab Technician at Superior Fresh monitors water quality parameters across all parts of our aquaponic system, maintains compliance with local and state regulations, and supports the Grow Team with inquiry and data collection. The Water Quality Lab Technician will be responsible for sampling, testing, and reporting water quality data, as well as maintaining the efficacy and function of the lab environment and monitoring equipment sitewide. All operations will be done in accordance with the company HACCP and food safety plans, strict biosecurity measures, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Primary Job Functions

  • Routinely run precise testing for water quality parameters determined by Water Quality Manager, Grow Team, and Aquaculture Manager.
  • Collect, process, and complete standard documentation for water, plant, and media samples to be analyzed by in-house and third-party labs.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain proper function of laboratory equipment including spectrophotometers, handheld multiparameter meters, and more.
  • Keep detailed records of lab testing & operations in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Compile, trend, interpret, and communicate data to stakeholders.
  • Work with Water Quality Manager to improve lab efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement existing and new practices developed by Management.
  • Contribute to development of Standard Operating Procedures and best practices in an ever-growing organization.
  • Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Assist with Research & Development projects.
  • Provide support to other areas of the business as needed: including but not limited to lettuce and fish harvest.
  • Actively participate in meetings, training, and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.
  • Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.

Job Qualifications

Education:

· High School Diploma or equivalent, Required

· Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline, Preferred

Experience:

  • Lab work, Preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite - inlcuding Outlook and Excel
  • Data collection and management
  • Work with experimental design and the scientific method, Preferred

Licenses or Certifications

  • Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic lab equipment

Physical Effort & Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in both cold and warm tempatures ranging from 38 to 100°F and high humidity.

Schedule Expectations

  • This position's regular schedule will be Monday through Friday. There will be a need to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Located in remote/rural environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
