Job Description
Purpose of Position: Under supervision, performs routine security inspections of buildings and grounds to protect against trespassers and property damage and/or loss. Performs related work as required.
Examples of Typical Tasks
- Makes periodic inspections tours throughout buildings and grounds to examine doors, windows, gates, locks and equipment.
- Checks for trespassers, fires, leaks from water or steam lines, or any other causes which might result in property damage and/or loss.
- Discourages loitering, prevents trespassing and maintains order
- Answers telephones
- In emergencies, operates elevators
- May operate heating equipment
Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State Security Guard registration card issued by the Department of State; and
2. Satisfactory completion of a 16-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) course within 90 days of employment.
Additionally, employees in this title are required to complete an 8-hour in-service training course within one (1) calendar year of completion of the 16 hour OJT course and annually thereafter.
