Purpose

This position is responsible for -

  • Management, coordination, and facilitation of the Washington State Fathers Network (WSFN) and family support programming to assist parents and families in strengthening their parenting and caregiving skills.
  • Supporting the development of WSFN chapters and referral as needed.
  • Assisting in the visioning and development of the Fathers Network in partnership with State and local agencies
  • 32 hours a week; 4-weeks off per year

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and assist existing Network groups and look for opportunities to increase the number of those groups
  • Manage Network-wide social events and look for new social opportunities, for fathers and/or their families
  • Secure private and public funds for the Network while collaborating closely with Kindering’s Advancement Team
  • Communicate Network activities and share resources with members through social media, newsletters, and the website.
  • Provide technical assistance to organizations on issues related to persons who identify as male who have children with a disability.
  • Find ways to have fathers share their experience of having a child with a disability in their life. This includes but is not limited to podcasts, at conferences, and on parent panels.
  • Conduct the Telling Your Story with a Purpose workshop around the state, virtually and in person.
  • Promote the idea of equal access to the community for those who have a disability and their family members.
  • Ensure completion of all work related to the contract Kindering has with the WA State Department of Health related to the WA State Fathers Network.
  • Ensure a connection to other programs at Kindering and growing the WSFN
  • Provide culturally relevant and culturally responsive Fathers Network activities, consultation, and coaching support to parents and families.
  • Work with the Chief Program Officer and Kindering Leadership in visioning activities to help inform the future direction and program design of parenting education and family support programming.

Required Education & Experience

  • Practical experience coordinating networks and/or building partnerships and connections.
  • Significant experience navigating systems of oppression or a sophisticated understanding of systemic oppression in the areas of dis/ability, neurodiversity, race, socioeconomic/class, gender identity and expression, among others
  • Demonstrated success in partnering with people from historically marginalized backgrounds or in learning through a strong existing practice of cultural humility
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, education, communication, or related field.
  • Bilingual fluency is an asset; bilingual applicants with are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Prerequisites

  • Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, ability to follow through on assignments on time and with accuracy, provide clear written and verbal communication, keep up-to-date written and electronic documentation
  • Strictly maintain confidentiality of all client information
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using MS Office
  • Pass tuberculosis test
  • Ability to show proof of current immunizations, including COVID-19 and MMR vaccine or titer test*

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

The employee may be required to carry children or file boxes weighing up to 40 pounds. The work is typically performed in an office environment, with a moderate noise level. Occasional travel to other areas of the state may be required, where the noise level is moderate to loud and environmental conditions may include slippery surfaces, crowded areas, or working near moving parts (e.g., exercise equipment). Local travel may be required.
