Position Summary

The Warehouse Manger is responsible for oversight of operations and logistics for the Warehouse, including supervision of warehouse employees, and performing various tasks in the warehouse and supporting the retail store inventory management. The warehouse supervisor will oversee the receiving process for products, loading and unloading trucks, coordinate and schedule deliveries, maintain inventory accuracy and assist customers during product pick up. This person is also responsible for warehouse staff training and for maintaining a safe working environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in hands-on shipping, receiving, inventory control, QC, loading and unloading product, deliveries and training of warehouse staff
  • Oversee inventory management by identifying products or items and correcting discrepancies related to their quality, quantity, description, identification, and location
  • Handle all warehouse product transfers to other warehouse locations, jobsites and the retail store
  • Keeping accurate records of inventory by physically counting and identifying items or product and their bin location in the warehouse and stock room
  • Ensuring that all receipts are processed in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that products are delivered or transferred to their destination on time and without damage
  • Assists with and ensures that Company materials are properly handled
  • Receives product and completes appropriate paperwork for materials leaving the warehouse and shipments coming in and makes necessary paperwork corrections.
  • Maintains accurate electronic records and documentation; regularly communicates via email.
  • Assists drivers in loading and unloading trucks.
  • Operates the Bobcat, Forklift and wheeled loader.
  • Gives direction as needed for additional tasks based on priority levels.
  • Display honesty and respect at the work site, when working with coworkers, customers, and other Bruce Company employees
  • Continually improves efficiencies of the warehouse operations to ensure accuracy of data, and exceptional customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Communicates effectively with drivers, coworkers, customers, and office staff.
  • Communicates job progress to immediate manager on a regular basis
  • Assists managers in resolution of issues.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and the General Manger to develop, improve, and implement training plan for newly hired warehouse staff.
  • Complete forklift and warehouse equipment certifications throughout warehouse job rotations
  • Follows company safety policies and procedures at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides mentoring, coaching, constructive feedback and training of anyone working in the warehouse.
  • Fosters a positive team-oriented work environment, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Oversees productivity staff including time and materials in and around the warehouse.
  • Helps with hiring, promotions, training, and development of staff working around the warehouse.
  • Documents the process and analyzes current state, making recommend any improvements or changes for review.
  • May approve time and ensure accuracy of hours for payroll.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors during all seasons.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including inclement weather (rain, snow, heat or cold).
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection is required for duties such as equipment operation that expose the individual to elevated noise levels.
  • Duties of this position expose the individual to chemicals and fertilizers

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual will demonstrate and perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ability to effectively communicate and interact, in a positive manner, with all Company personnel, regulatory agencies, consultants and other contractor personnel is also required. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education, Certification and License:

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record is required; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred.
  • Forklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift training and safe operation of forklift and other equipment.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years working in a Warehouse environment is required.
  • Previous experience in inventory management required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a retail or landscape field preferred.
  • Previous equipment operating experience (loader, bobcat, forklift or other used in warehouse operations) is preferred.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel.
  • Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of hand-held tools (shovels, hammers, etc.), drills and other electrical tools is necessary to successfully complete the essential duties of the position.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of ordering and inventory control.
  • Understanding of safety components of using tools and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stands and walks for long periods of time throughout the day.
  • Squats or kneels and lifts objects from ground occasionally.
  • Full extension of arms above head and in front of body.
  • Frequently lifts weight of up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally carries and pushes/pulls weights of up to 50 pounds.
  • Possesses good balance to work on uneven ground conditions.
  • Ability to communicate in English; bilingual with ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful.

Job Specifications

  • This is a Full-Time Year-Round position.
  • Typical work hours are Monday through Saturday between 9:00am to 6:00pm during our peak season (Approximately April to November). Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Every other weekend required.
  • Hours of work (approximately 40 hours/week) vary in winter months (Approximately December through March) based on winter warehouse duties.
  • Overtime may be required as workload dictates.
